Eric Mulvin: 00:57
As you can see, if you guys are watching, maybe you could hear some of the background noise. Uh, this isn’t your typical episode. I don’t have a guest here. Uh I’m here live in Anaheim, California, uh, for the Transportation Taxi Alliance uh conference out here, where uh just like I was a couple months back in Orlando, um, we’re out with transportation professionals who move the people around this country and especially the vulnerable population of uh people who need rides from non-emergency medical transportation, getting you to the doctor’s rides, to the hospital visits, uh medical appointments, uh you have it there. So um, but I thought, you know, we’re busy this week at the conference, so we don’t have a full episode for you guys, but I thought I’d hop on here and uh give you guys an update on um what’s happening in the uh unfinished business world here on the podcast and share some perspective and thoughts on uh how the how the year’s been going with the show. Um but first of all, I want to give a big shout out to you guys, all the listeners. Uh I have received amazing feedback from the people who have discovered our show, found it, been listening to episodes, uh commenting on the reels or sharing the posts, uh, and all the people that have been discovering us. Uh we started out the year with one episode, brand new episode, and so uh 100% of all the followers, all the people you see, it is all uh all thanks to you guys. So thank you guys all for your support. Um we are the goal I set at the beginning of the year, which you’ve been following from the beginning, you might have heard this, is I wanted to hit 40 episodes this year, which is a pretty ambitious goal. It’s almost one episode a month, and it was about the end of January when I set that goal. And uh now we’re sitting here at the end of October, and we can cruise to that goal. Uh we’re definitely gonna hit 40, might even surpass it a little bit. Um so thank you all to the amazing, amazing, amazing guests that we’ve had on the show. There’s too many to name for there to be my favorite. Uh obviously, we’ve had some amazing high-caliber guests like uh Jack McCaulay, co-founder of Oculus. Um, just feel honored to be able to sit down with someone as accomplished as that and to talk about their unfinished business. And uh, you guys definitely want to check out that episode. I’ve been able to have over 30 amazing in-depth conversations with business leaders who have built up companies that are 100 million plus a year in revenue, millions of users, or hundreds of millions of users, um, and uh and everything in between, from a high school band to musicians, a DJ in LA, you name it, like we can go on and on about the amazing guests. Uh, but I’m curious, what are some of your guys’ favorite guests? What are some of the episodes that you guys really loved? Because we’re already starting to plan for 2027 and starting to see who are the guests that we could bring on the show that help share their story to help inspire you, and hopefully teach you guys about things that you could apply into your business. That’s a big part of this show. Uh when we have guests on like Craig Weber, for example, and he’s able to share his uh framework for the men or win and being able to stay in that sweet spot. Uh it’s things like that that you know we’re able to bring these amazing ideas to the listeners, and that you could go and implement. You know, when we talk about with these with these guests, always make sure that they share something that you could apply. You don’t have to go to their workshop, you don’t have to buy their book, although for the low, low price of some of their books, it’s definitely worth the very small investment and your time to read the book. But the idea is that you could apply some of these techniques, whether it’s a professional speaker like Craig, or it’s a very accomplished CEO who’s sharing insights on the industry. I am very excited that this conference, um, I was able to interview the CEO of Bambi, one of the main leading NEMT software providers. So thanks, Nero, for uh being a guest on the show. But we were able to talk about amazing advice to NEMT businesses, but to any business, about profitability, about steps that you should take when you first start your business and build things up. And that’s advice very practical for the people who attend this conference, but also very practical to anybody listening, whether you’re thinking about starting a business, maybe you’re thinking about starting a new service, a new division, a spin-off, uh acquiring another company, anything like that. The same steps apply, right? You still need to be able to do your research, to do the due diligence, to make sure you have a plan ahead. And the most interesting thing, uh, there’s a lot of takeaways I’ve gotten from all the conversations, but from an entrepreneurial standpoint, if you’re a business owner and you’re listening to this, it’s just so fascinating to hear what everyone does wrong. So many people, you know, we joked about it today, but your business, you have to make sure that you’re making more money than you’re spending. And so many times in business, people get it wrong. And if they didn’t get it wrong, you wouldn’t hear about so many businesses going under. Like today we talked about how roughly 35% of new NEMT startups don’t make it after one year. That’s a very, very challenging data point to swallow. That’s a lot of people not making it, right? And sometimes it’s just making sure you get through those steps so that you know what you’re getting yourself into. So really amazing advice. So you’ll check that episode out. Uh it’ll be coming out in a couple weeks, so stay tuned for that. But go back through any of the other episodes. Everybody has amazing advice uh and inspirational stories that they can share about how they got to where they’re at today. Uh so that’s my hope. And I I am a hundred percent committed to uh season two in 2027 of the Unfinished Business Podcast, where we plan to release another 40 episodes of amazing business leaders, entrepreneurs, creative people, uh again, like the intro for the show, who are out changing the world. Uh because even someone like Bambi, right, uh you’re gonna hear their origin story of how they got started when you listen to that episode. But the impact is real, right? Like for people like this here, your grandma, you don’t want your grandma stranded out at the medical appointment because one of these vans didn’t come back to pick her up. Right? And so these companies have the technology to prevent those things from happening. And I I think the world’s gotta be a little bit better of a place if we’re not leaving grandma behind at the medical facilities. But that’s just one small example, and it’s a little tiny niche industry of the companies that are out making a difference. And outside of that, there’s so many people making such a big impact, helping people find jobs, helping people with uh Justin Chase and one of my favorite episodes from Solery, where he runs the crisis hotline in four different states where they help talk people out of suicide. They help people understand that there’s a better alternative. Who I don’t I can’t imagine the amount of impact and change people like Justin are having on the world, and you know, we’re not all fortunate enough to have a business that is able to make such a big impact. But we all can make an impact in some kind of way, and so that’s another thing is through these stories of these business leaders, I hope you’re able to hear some of what they’re doing. It’s not all about business, it’s about helping the community, helping each other, helping people out. And they all have amazing stories. So the point of every show, uh, what’s your unfinished business? Uh I really hope you guys are enjoying those answers from the show. Um so leave it in the comments. What’s been your favorite answer so far from the unfinished business episodes? What was your favorite business leader and their answer to the unfinished business? I have several, uh, a lot of favorites. Um and sneak peek early preview. Uh, we’re obviously gonna be off for the holiday break, so don’t expect new episodes coming out Christmas. Um, but we are planning a clip episode uh featuring some of our favorite answers to questions on the show that we’ve had, and also that famous question, what is your unfinished business? So uh look out for that in December and shout out to my producer Maya Ann, who runs everything for the show for me. Uh we’ve grown a lot this year, and uh everything that you guys see online is because of her. I just stand in the camera and hold the mic. Uh, she’s the one that takes all the footage, edits it, adds the graphics, adds the transcripts, adds the captions, posts it everywhere, posts the podcast, you name it, gets the clips out to everyone, coordinates with the guests. Uh so I’m really fortunate. So shout out to Mae Ann. Uh, and you guys all have her to thank for being able to watch this show every week because she keeps it uh keeps it running. So I guess that’s it for me from Anaheim. Uh, I just didn’t want to go a week this week without uh sending a message out to you guys, but stay tuned. We have more amazing episodes coming up next week. And also, if you guys are in the Phoenix area, uh there is a very unique event coming up that we’re gonna be uh part of and we’re sponsoring called the Million Dollar Mingle. Uh and it is happening on the first Friday in well, the event happens all weekend, first weekend of November. Uh look for us Friday at McCormick Ranch. Uh you can go to Million Dollar Mingle, look it up online and find the details. But there’s a business symposium day, and we will be there live all day interviewing entrepreneurs and asking them about their journey, little quick clips. We’re not doing full episodes, we’re just doing some quick clips, uh, man on the street, people walking by. But I’m gonna get that question from everybody. What’s your unfinished business? You’ve look at what you’ve done. You just explained to me this amazing business that you have. What do you still want to get done in your career? So if you’re out there uh and you want an opportunity to be on the microphone next to me on camera, um, we’re gonna be getting a bunch of those clips out on uh YouTube and social media. But look out for that uh and come say hi if you’re gonna be out there. Uh shout out to AC Caswell, uh organizer of that. Um we are looking forward to being involved with that. But um that’s news for us. Um and in the meantime, we got more episodes coming out every single week. Uh so stay tuned and uh make sure that you subscribe. So if you watch this and you’re not subscribing, go subscribe on your favorite podcast platform or your favorite social media channel. Unfinished Business with Eric Mulvin, anywhere where you listen to podcasts, and @BizWithEric on every social media platform where you can follow us and keep up to date with every week all the amazing stories that come out from all of our guests on the show. So thank you guys for watching uh and put some notes in the comments about your favorite episode, what’s been some of the favorite answers, who’s been your favorite guest. I’d love some feedback because we’re coming out with another season next year, 2027. And uh and if you guys know somebody who would be an amazing guest to be on a show, please let us know. Um we are always looking for really great guests to share their story about their entrepreneurial journey, what are they doing to make the world a better place through their business, through their leadership, through their creativity, and uh and what’s their unfinished business? So uh if you got some great people that deserve to have their story told, um please connect them with us. So until then, thank you guys for watching. Uh, this is Eric Mulvin from Anaheim, and uh see you guys on the next episode. Bye, everybody.
