Episode 1: Why I Started Unfinished Business
This week marks the launch of something I’ve been thinking about for a long time: the Unfinished Business podcast. If this is your first time hearing about it, welcome! I’m Eric Mulvin, founder of Pac Biz Outsourcing and host of the show. And in this first episode, I’m doing something a little different. Instead of interviewing a guest, I brought on a good friend of mine, Isaac Navias (co-owner of LocalFi and host of Full Time to Travel Time) to interview me. We talk about the “WHY” behind the podcast, the people it’s for, and what I hope it can become.
The Real Reason This Podcast Exists
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many incredible business owners, leaders, and innovators, people doing meaningful work in their industries and communities. We’ve shared great conversations at conferences, networking events, dinners, even at Suns games. But often those talks feel unfinished. We walk away with ideas, with possibilities but life and business get in the way, and the next step doesn’t always happen.
That’s the gap I’m trying to close with this podcast.
Unfinished Business is about picking up those conversations again. Not just to reconnect, but to dig deeper. To talk about where we’ve been, what’s changing in our industries, and where we’re heading, especially in this era of AI, automation, and remote work.
This Podcast Is for the Builders
Whether you’re running a small business or scaling a global team, I believe we all have unfinished business. A vision that hasn’t been fully realized yet. A mission we’re still chasing.
So this show is for the people building something bigger than themselves — business owners, creatives, leaders, and those who are using technology, people, and purpose to create lasting impact.
That’s the thread connecting every episode: stories from people doing real work to move the needle — in their companies, in their industries, in their communities.
What We Talked About in Episode 1
In this kickoff conversation, Isaac and I talk about:
- The origin of the podcast and where the name came from
- Why the most interesting people I meet often have something they’re still pushing toward
- How our stories — especially the ones that aren’t wrapped up neatly — can teach and inspire others
We also talked about the state of business today. Everyone’s paying attention to the news, the economy, and the noise on social media. But beneath the surface, there are people doing incredible things — growing companies, creating jobs, innovating with AI, and leading with purpose. That’s what we want to spotlight.
Sponsored by Pac Biz Outsourcing
This podcast is made possible by Pac Biz Outsourcing — the company I started over a decade ago that now supports transportation, e-commerce, and software companies with remote teams in the Philippines.
In the episode, I shared a real story: we helped one client save over $600,000 a year by moving their dispatch operations over to our team. That kind of impact matters — for the businesses we support, and for the jobs we create in Dumaguete.
We’re not just answering phones or handling tickets. We’re helping companies scale efficiently, deliver better customer experiences, and reinvest in growth. That’s part of my unfinished business.
